About Us

Beliefs & Values

We affirm historic Christian orthodoxy and one of the earliest and most universally accepted of Christian creeds, the Apostles' Creed — and we hold these things with a generous, listening spirit.

The best way for you to learn about our beliefs is to join in with us as we seek to be a part of unfolding the kingdom of God in our present context — realizing that we are a part of a greater narrative traveling from the past to the future.

God's will, his plan for mankind, is still unfolding. We are called to active participation in God's story through listening and faithful obedience to the role he has for each of us. We believe that you would get a much clearer understanding of our beliefs from the inside.

What We Affirm

The Apostles' Creed

ca. AD 215 — the ancient words we say together with the church across centuries.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

A Listening People

We desire to be a…

We are a community with a generous orthodoxy, seeking theological dialogue with one another and purposefully leaving space for the Holy Spirit. We come from various traditions and backgrounds, but we are enamored by Jesus and long to follow him more fully with our lives.

Listening people

We believe the Holy Spirit will teach, guide, and convict us as we humbly seek — so we make room to hear.

John 16:13–15

Thankful people

We are not deserving of restoration nor second chances, but we believe in a God who forgives. That forgiveness does not depend on our faithfulness or our effort — it is offered through the work of Christ.

Ephesians 2:8–9 · Romans 4:1

Humble people

We do not want to be haughty or prideful. Grace is a gift from a benevolent and generous God — for all races, all tribes, and all groups.

Romans 3:24–25 · Titus 2:11–14 · Ephesians 2:8

Loving people

We are first loved, so we love. We want our love for Christ and for others demonstrated through action — at home, in our neighborhoods, and to the uttermost parts of the world.

Luke 10:27 · Matthew 5:43–44

Expectant people

We do not fully understand the suffering in our world, but we are hopeful that God neither slumbers nor sleeps but is involved and active within creation. We expect him to make all things right.

Psalm 121 · 1 Peter 2:23 · Acts 1:10–11

Missional people

As we expectantly wait and hope, we are called to lay down our agendas, our dreams, our goals, and our plans to follow the One who has captured us with love and grace.

Genesis 12:1–2 · John 20:21

Replicating people

We are called to make disciples — to see new people begin following Jesus and those already following him grow in maturity — and to be a church intentional about birthing new churches.

Matthew 28:18–20

A people who glorify God

We believe that all we do should be for God's ultimate glory, and that we exist to bring honor and glory to him.

1 Corinthians 10:31 · Colossians 3:23

Discipleship

We value growing from unbelief to belief in every area of our lives, and we value helping others grow from unbelief to belief in their own lives. Following Jesus impacts every area of one's life.
